How to Make a Winter Sweater for Your Dog

With basic sewing skills and a steady hand, you can transform a woman’s sweater into a fashionable dog  sweater for a medium or small dog. Here’s how:

1. Wash your sweater in your washing machine or a hot water cycle. Tumble dry your sweater to shrink the fibers
2. Measure your pooch from his neck to the base of the tail, Add one inch to the final measurement.

4. Using straight pins, place the pattern on the top of the sweater. Cut around the pattern using your sewing scissors.

6. Finish the outfit by hand if there were fabric areas that couldn’t be covered with the sewing machine.  Sew on any decorations like ribbons and buttons.
7. Turn your new sweater right side in and try it on your dog.  Make sure that the sweater is not too-snug around the neck and legs. Your dog will need room to walk and stretch.
